Vol. 237 No. 7

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Telephone Applicant.

38.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that an applicant for telephone installation (name supplied) from Meelick, Swinford, County Mayo had her deposit returned after a period of three years waiting; and if he will take the necessary steps to have her telephone installed without further delay.

Provision of service for this applicant requires the erection of about 1½ miles of new pole route for which wayleave consent is required. Because of the difficulty in obtaining a wayleave from the local authority, the advance payment which was collected in December, 1965, was refunded last June. The applicant declined an offer of refund in December, 1966.

Discussions with the local authority regarding the grant of a wayleave were resumed some time ago but the outcome cannot at present be forecast.
