Vol. 237 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Revenue.

15.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the total revenue from tourists in 1968; and how this was calculated.

An annual estimate of revenue from tourism is compiled by the Central Statistics Office. The method of estimation is described in the December, 1959 issue of the "Irish Trade Journal and Statistical Bulletin". The estimate for 1968 will not be available until next year.

Would the Minister have any idea before next year as to what revenue accrued from tourism?

I think Bord Fáilte make a rough estimate in advance in the office but the only reliable estimate would be that coming from the Central Statistics Office.
