Vol. 237 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - International Monetary Situation.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance what information he has on the present international monetary situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I dealt with this matter in the course of my reply to the debate on the financial motions yesterday. I do not think that I can usefully add anything at this stage.

Can the Taoiseach say, in regard to our membership of the sterling area, if any question of having this country represented at the recent Monetary Conference was considered, or were our ambassadors present in any way as observers?

I am not aware that they were. In fact, if they were I should have expected to receive a report. I can take it they were not.
