The functions of the Hospitals Commission are set out in section 17 of the Public Hospitals Act, 1933. Broadly, the Commission may be required to advise the Minister on matters relating to hospital and nursing facilities in the State and on any matter relating to the administration of the Hospitals Trust Fund.
The expenses incurred by the Commission in the discharge of their functions are met from grants authorised by me from time to time and paid from the Hospitals Trust Fund. Apart from the moneys which they receive to meet these expenses the Hospitals Commission control no other funds.
