Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Malahide (Dublin) Pedestrian Crossing.

68.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider the provision of a pedestrian crossing at the Red Schools, Malahide, County Dublin.

The provision of pedestrian crossings is a matter for the local authority acting at the request, or with the consent, of the Garda Commissioner.

Is the provision of pedestrian crossings now a matter for the Garda Authorities, despite what the Minister says?

The local authorities can make recommendations to the Garda Síochána but the position at present is that the actual provision of them is made by the local authority who usually act at the request of the Garda Síochána.
