asked the Taoiseach if he will express for (a) 1951 and (b) the latest year for which figures are available, the amount collected in central Government taxation as a proportion of GNP.

In 1951-52 and 1967-68 central Government taxation, i.e., taxes on incomes, taxes on expenditure, taxes on capital and social insurance contributions, expressed as a percentage of GNP at market prices, was 18.6 per cent and 24.9 per cent respectively.
