Vol. 237 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reactor Cattle Prices.

24.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is satisfied that the price paid to farmers for reactor cattle is adequate in the light of present day replacement costs.

Reactors are bought at prices agreed with the herdowners on the basis of the price they would realise in the open market without reference to the result of the relevant test.

I am satisfied that the prices being paid on this basis are fair and reasonable.
