Vol. 237 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fire Equipment.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the fire brigade in Kenmare, County Kerry cannot work efficiently because there is no ladder available to the brigade to enable members to reach the top storey of many of the buildings in the town; and whether he will ask the local authority to supply all the necessary equipment required by the fire brigade.

The acquisition of fire brigade equipment is a matter entirely for the sanitary authority. I am informed that there is a ladder available to the Kenmare fire brigade which is capable of reaching the top storey of most of the buildings in the town.

I also understand that the facilities for the Kenmare Brigade are at present under review by the sanitary authority.
