asked the Minister for Finance what the A and B civil service salary scales were in the years 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 for the grades of Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Principal Officer, Assistant Principal, Administrative Officer and Higher Executive Officer.

The information sought is in the form of a tabular statement which with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the Statement:—

The scales given are the standard scales effective at 1st January in the years indicated.

NOTES:

(i) The following additions apply to the pay of the above officers, other than Secretary and Assistant Secretary, with effect from 1st June, 1966:—

Scale A

£39 a year

Scale B

£52 a year

Officers aged 18-21 on either scale A or scale B

£39 a year

(ii) With effect from 1st June, 1968, the pay of all these grades (including the additions described in Note (i)) has been increased by 9%.
