asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in relation to the transfer of two Departments to Castlebar and Athlone (a) the amount of land purchased in each case for sites, (b) the cost of such lands in each case, (c) the method of purchase and (d) the estimated cost of those transfers.

In the case of Castlebar about 28¼ acres were bought at a total cost of £14,616. At Athlone about 56½ acres were bought at a total cost of £13,700. Both purchases were by private treaty.
An estimate of the total cost of the transfers will not be available for some time.
It is estimated that the cost of the new offices will be of the order of £3 million.
