Vol. 237 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing.

72.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will sign the purchase order for land for the erection of county council houses at Kenmare, County Kerry; and if he is aware of the urgent need for houses there as only four council cottages were built since 1934.

I confirmed this compulsory purchase order on the 5th December. I am aware of the need for houses at Kenmare.

73.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which his Department received application from Kerry County Council for a loan to erect cottages; and when he is likely to approve the request.

74.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he received an application from Kerry County Council for sanction to the raising of a loan for building cottages; the amount of the loan applied for; and the present position on the matter.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 73 and 74 together.

Kerry County Council's application for sanction to a loan of £55,000 for 30 rural cottages was received in my Department on the 19th September, 1968. I hope to be in a position to sanction the loan shortly.
