Vol. 237 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Bridge.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will recommend that a ford be put down on the bed of the River Moy beside the footbridge now being erected at Curroughboy, Tourlestrane, County Sligo to facilitate over 40 families in getting a horse and cart over the river in order to bring their turf home and thus save them a long roundabout journey.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will have a seven-foot bridge erected over the River Moy at Curroughboy, Tourlestrane, County Sligo to facilitate over 40 families taking home their turf by cart and shortening their journey very much.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I will answer Questions No. 13 and No. 14 together.

A ford has already been provided at Curroughboy and it is being used by local people bringing turf home by cart. A footbridge is nearing completion and will be open for use early next year. The ford and the footbridge will give crossing facilities at least as good as those previously available. It is not intended to provide a cartbridge.
