Vol. 237 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Air Pollution.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he aware of the increasing concern in medical circles arising from the incidence of air pollution in Dublin city; if he proposes to set up an advisory body to assist him in extending existing controls; and, if so, its proposed composition.

While the incidence of air polution in an expanding city like Dublin with its increasing industrialisation is a matter which requires and is receiving attention there is no cause for great concern. Draft interim regulations dealing with the heavier smoke emissions are in the final stage of preparation and comments will be invited from interested persons or bodies by public advertisement before the regulations are made. It is not proposed to set up an advisory body as envisaged by the Deputy.
