asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of new houses (a) which have been built to date, (b) at present in course of erection and (c) at the planning stage in the Shannon industrial zone.

I am informed by the Shannon Free Airport Development Company that they have built 573 houses and 137 flats at Shannon to date; that they have 169 houses in course of erection and a further 166 in the planning stage. In addition, 36 privately-built houses have been erected at Shannon, 12 are in course of erection and 32 are in the planning stage.

65.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of (a) males and (b) females employed at present in the Shannon Industrial Estate.

I am informed by the Shannon Free Airport Development Company Ltd. that the total number of people employed at the Shannon Industrial Estate on 30th November, 1968, was 4,198, of whom 2,416 were males and 1,782 females.
