Vol. 237 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boot Factory Employees.

67.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of workers being laid off in boot factories because of the recent action of the British Government; and what steps are being taken to have these workers re-employed.

I have no knowledge of workers being laid off in footwear factories as a result of the recent action of the British Government. So far as the import deposit is concerned, the Deputy will be aware that the Government made arrangements to safeguard the position of our exporting industries.
