Vol. 237 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo Estates.

91.

andMr. McLaughlin asked the Minister for Lands the number of estates convenient to Tubbercurry town, County Sligo, especially in the townlands of Carrowreagh Cooper Carrowreagh Knox, Rathscanlon and Ballymote Road, reported to his Department as qualifying for acquisition; when those estates were reported; and what action has been taken.

Representations urging that about 21 holdings in the districts referred to in the question be acquired were received in the Land Commission last July. Inquiries are in train with a view to ascertaining whether all or any of these holdings would be suitable for land settlement purposes. A number of other holdings have also been listed for inquiry—and proceedings for compulsory acquisition have been instituted for two holdings totalling 40 acres.
