Vol. 237 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Lands.

92.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission propose to divide the Busher estate, Greyrobin, Kilmore, County Wexford.

A scheme has been approved for this 26 acre holding and it is expected that the lands will be allotted within the next few weeks.

93.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) the amount of land acquired by the Land Commission in County Wexford in each year since 1960; (b) the amount allocated in each year; and (c) the average time it takes to divide an estate.

The particulars requested in parts (a) and (b) of the Question are contained in a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report. As to part (c), I would refer the Deputy to the reply to a similar question on this subject on 26th April, 1967—Vol. 228, Cols. 178 and 179 of the Official Report.

Following is the tabular statement referred to:

asked the Minister for Lands the number of holdings handed over to the Land Commission in County Wexford under the pension scheme in each year since it came into operation.

The position, as regards County Wexford, is that, of 13 applications received, five were rejected as unsuitable and purchase negotiations were authorised in the remaining eight cases. In the latter, price agreement was reached in just one case but the landowner concerned later decided against participating in the scheme. Negotiations with three applicants are still in progress. The scheme of course is entirely voluntary.
