asked the Minister for Local Government the total amount of money expended on rural improvement schemes in County Mayo since the beginning of 1968 up to the latest date for which figures are available.

The Rural Improvements Scheme together with the Bog Development and Minor Employment Schemes, was from 1st April, 1968, incorporated in the Local Improvements Scheme which is administered by the county councils. The total amount spent in County Mayo on all those schemes, exclusive of expenditure from local contributions under the Local Improvements Scheme, from 1st January, 1968 to 31st December, 1968, was £20,800.
