Vol. 238 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Amenity Works.

51.

asked the Minister for Local Government the amount of money made available to Dublin County Council from the local loans fund for recreation centres and amenity works generally during the past year.

In accordance with the normal practice for local authorities, any loans required by Dublin County Council for these purposes last year were obtained from sources other than the local loans fund.

Is it not a fact that they were obtained from other sources because they were not available from the local loans fund and because the Minister told them?

They were obtained from other sources because the local loans fund is required for more essential purposes and it is utilised to an ever increasing extent for those purposes.

Is it not a fact that the Minister's predecessor never stopped talking about all the money that was available for amenity purposes, for swimming pools and everything else but we never saw any of that money?

There is a considerable amount available, but not from the local loans fund.
