asked the Minister for Industry if he is aware of the grave danger to employment in Cork city arising out of the import of British fertiliser products to this country; and if he will make a full statement on the situation in regard to such imports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make a comprehensive statement on the recent problem in the fertiliser industry regarding the alleged dumping of fertilisers in this country by foreign producers.
With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take questions Nos. 82 and 83 together. A complaint was made to my Department by the Irish fertiliser manufacturers that certain compound fertilisers of British origin were being sold in this country at dumped prices. Following the examination of this complaint by my Department in accordance with the provisions of the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Area Agreement, the British exporters concerned agreed that during the current fertiliser season they would discontinue supplying the Irish market with the fertilisers which were the subject of the complaint.
