Vol. 238 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Lissadell, County Sligo, Estate.

106.

asked the Minister for Lands if repairs will be carried out on the avenues leading to Lissadell House, County Sligo, as the many avenues on the estate are now in a dangerous condition and unfit for use by tourists.

Possession of some 2,630 acres on this Estate passed to the Land Commission on 22nd October last. Lissadell House with a surrounding area of about 400 acres has been retained by the owners. The question of any necessary repairs to the avenues on the lands purchased by the Land Commission will be fully considered at the stage when a scheme of division is being formulated. The Deputy will appreciate that, having regard to the substantial acreage involved, considerable enquiries on the ground will be necessary before resale plans can be prepared.
