Vol. 238 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Railways.

9.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will make a statement relating to the County Donegal railways; and if it is expected to introduce legislation to enable CIE to take control of this system.

The County Donegal Railways Joint Committee is owned jointly by the Great Northern Railways Board and the British Railways Board.

With the approval of the Government, CIE have entered into an Agreement with the British Railways Board to take over their interest in the Joint Committee. The management of the Joint Committee's undertaking has been taken over by CIE but legislation is required to give full effect to the Agreement with the British Railways Board. The necessary legislation is in course of preparation.
