Vol. 238 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of applications received by Kerry County Council for rehousing in the Sneem dispensary district; the number of applicants considered to be in need of rehousing in this district; the number of cases in respect of which building proposals have been prepared by the County Council there; and if the Council will give a certain priority to housing applications in this area.

This information is not available in my Department. A decision on the degree of priority to be accorded to approved applicants for rehousing in any area is a matter for the local housing authority.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has yet received layout plans from Kerry County Council for a housing scheme on lands acquired compulsorily for housing in Kenmare, County Kerry; if so, if he will state the present position; and the number of proposed local authority houses in the scheme.

I have not received plans for this scheme.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the housing scheme at Ardshanavooly, Park Road, Killarney proposed by Killarney Urban District Council on lands acquired compulsorily by them for housing; and the number of local authority houses proposed in this scheme.

I am awaiting the submission of a revised layout plan for this scheme. I have been pressing the housing authority for this. I do not yet know the number of local authority houses to be provided.

Would the Minister say now how long, approximately, he has been awaiting submission of the plan from the Killarney Urban District Council? It must be a considerable time.

Since 29th October.

Would the Minister send another reminder to Killarney Urban District Council in view of the increasing housing needs because of tourist and industrial expansion in the town?

They are being pressed to submit a revised plan as soon as possible.
