Vol. 238 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Government Grant.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government why a person (particulars supplied) in County Sligo was refused a grant for a local improvement scheme carried out by him.

It is a matter for the county council to determine in each individual case in accordance with the general instructions laid down by my Department whether a grant may be authorised under the Local Improvements Scheme.

I have been informed by the county council that in the case referred to the applicants sought payment of grant for work already carried out by them and not authorised by the council. It is not the practice to allow grants in such circumstances.
