Vol. 238 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballinilane (Kerry) National School.

35.

asked the Minister whether he is aware of the very bad condition of Ballinilane national school, Ballyhar, County Kerry and of the dangerous and unhealthy condition of the schoolyard; and how he proposes to remedy these serious conditions as a matter of urgency.

I am aware of the necessity for providing suitable school accommodation for the pupils of Ballinilane school district. It has already been decided to close this school and to transfer the pupils to Firies National School when the necessary extension and improvements, which include the provision of flushed toilets, have been completed at the latter school.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that the working drawings for the Firies scheme have reached the final stages and that it should be possible to arrange for the invitation of tenders in the near future. In view of the urgency of the case industrialised building methods will be used.
