Vol. 238 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Moneylenders Acts Exemptions.

55.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what exemptions under the Moneylenders Acts were made in the year 1968; what exemptions from earlier years were current in that year; and the reason for each such exemption.

The following companies were granted exemption from the Moneylenders Acts during the year 1968:

Equity Securities, Limited. General Finance Trust, Limited, Alex. Lawrie Factors, Limited.

Other companies holding exemptions current in 1968 were:

Shipping Finance Corporation,Limited,

The Irish Land Finance Company,Limited.

The Heritable Securities and Mortgage Investment Association, Limited.

Share and Loan Trust, Limited,

International Factors (Ireland), Limited.

The companies in question were granted exemption because it was considered that they were not moneylenders of the kind to which it was intended that the Moneylenders Acts, 1900 to 1933 should apply.
