Vol. 238 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Tax on Agricultural Vehicles.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has given further consideration to the position where road tax on landrovers, jeeps and cut-down trucks used for the haulage of agricultural produce has been increased from 50s to £31 10s per annum; and if he will now take the necessary steps to have these vehicles taxable at the previous rate of 50s.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to similar questions on 31st October, 1968. The duty legally payable on such vehicles has not been altered in any way.

Could the Minister say if his colleague the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries has made any representations to him about this matter?

My colleague, the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, talks to me about a lot of things.

(Interruptions.)

Does the Minister give him any civil answers?

Did the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries talk to the Minister about this matter and use his influence with him?

Yes, we talked about it.
