Vol. 238 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Coast Erosion.

39.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received from the Waterford County Council an application for a grant under the Coast Protection Act, 1963 in respect of serious coast erosion at (a) Clay Cliffs, Tramore, (b) Ballyvoile, Dungarvan and (c) Whiting Bay, Ardmore, County Waterford; if he proposes to give a grant for these works; if so, the amount of the grant; and when the Council may expect it to be given.

The Commissioners of Public Works have received a proposal from Waterford County Council under the Coast Protection Act, 1963, for Ballyvoile, Dungarvan. The statutory preliminary examination of this proposal has not yet been undertaken and I cannot say at this stage if or when a grant may be made available.

Representations in regard to the other two areas were received from the County Council last week but formal proposals under the Act have not yet been made.
