Vol. 238 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

10.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when the ESB propose to provide electricity for a large number of householders in the inward Ardgroom, outward Ardgroom and Kilcatherine areas of Bantry, County Cork; and whether he is aware that these areas have been awaiting supply for a considerable period.

I have been informed by the ESB that the areas in question have been included in the Castletownbere Rural Area and will be canvassed under the rural electrification post development scheme in a few months time. It is hoped to complete construction work by the end of the year and supply will be extended to all householders who accept the terms quoted and have their houses wired.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the present position relating to the supply of electricity for a large number of householders in the Bawnard, Kilmacowen and Eyeries areas in West Cork; and when approximately these districts will be served by the ESB.

I have been informed by the ESB that the areas in question are in the Board's Castletownbere Rural Area and will be recanvassed under the rural electrification post development scheme in a few months time.

The Board hope to complete construction work by the end of this year and supply will be extended to all householders who accept the terms quoted and have their houses wired.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when electricity supply will be extended to applicants at Killavoy and Shronebeha, Banteer, County Cork.

I have been informed by the ESB that Killavoy and Shronebeha are in the Board's Castlemagner rural area. Householders in this area will have a further opportunity of taking supply when the area is recanvassed in three to four years time.
