Vol. 238 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oats Subsidy.

20.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why it was found necessary to subsidise oats for milling purposes through sales through An Bord Gráin.

Some subsidy will be necessary to implement the scheme for a floor price for oats in the western counties this year. I understand that An Bord Gráin sought tenders for milling oats held by them and that the tenders accepted, which involved a small subsidy, have not interfered with the normal market for milling oats.
