Vol. 238 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Redundant Employees.

26.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of redundancies which have occurred since the coming into operation of the Redundancy Payment Act, 1967; and if there is yet any estimate of the likely number for the present year.

The total number of notices of dismissal on redundancy under the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 issued to workers between the 1st January, 1968, when the Act came into operation, and 14th February, 1969, was 4,491.

It is not possible to estimate the number of redundancies which is likely to arise during 1969.
