(Dublin South-Central) asked the Minister for Transport and Power (a) the number, (b) the size and (c) the grade of hotels which were opened in the Republic of Ireland in 1968; and the number expected to be opened before the tourist season begins in 1969.

As the information furnished to me by Bord Fáilte is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate my reply with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

1968:

(a) Number:

38 new hotels were opened during 1968 with 737 bedrooms (10 of these having 147 rooms were previously guesthouses).

(b) Size:
