Vol. 239 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Rents and Rates.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Dublin Corporation will give whatever accommodation is necessary in the payment of rents and rates to persons who are experiencing hardship as a result of the maintenance strike.

I am informed by the Corporation that tenants whose rents are assessed in accordance with their differential rent scheme and who are experiencing hardship as a result of the maintenance strike are automatically eligible to have their rents re-assessed on the basis of reduced income for the duration of the strike. Many such tenants have, in fact, had their rents reduced.

Tenants on fixed rents and purchasers paying annuities to the Corporation may bring their cases to the attention of the area supervisor who is available for interview every afternoon at the Rent Collection Section of the Corporation's Housing Department. Any ratepayer concerned may make representations directly to the rate collector for his area.
