Vol. 239 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Valuation for Improvement Schemes.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government if applicants participating in a local improvements scheme are required to state the total valuation of all their lands, or merely the valuation of their lands directly affected by the proposed work.

The valuation of the whole of a beneficiary's holding (lands only) is required to be stated. Where, however, a landholder has two or more widely separated holdings, each worked as a separate unit, only the valuation of the holding directly served need be taken into account.

I am grateful for the reply but I should like to say that there is confusion about the administration of the scheme in Galway. I have a form——

We cannot discuss the scheme.

May I say, arising out of the reply, that in one part of the form applicants must give the valuation of all lands and in another part the applicant's representative has to certify the valuation of the lands that would be served or benefited by the proposed work. I am asking the Minister to spell out the reply for the people administering this scheme in Galway because it has been worked to the detriment of the applicants by taking the whole valuation into account.

I will clarify the matter.
