Vol. 239 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Estates.

82.

asked the Minister for Lands the position regarding the Kelly Estate, Killasolen, Mount Bellow, County Galway.

This 26-acre holding was surrendered to the Land Commission last Spring in exchange for other lands. Pending completion of the necessary enquiries on the ground it is not possible to forecast when a scheme of division may be planned—but there will be no avoidable delay.

83.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission intend to divide the Frank Healy Estate, Skehana, Peterswell, County Galway, which has been in their possession for the past four years; and if so, when.

The Land Commission are anxious to secure additional land in this district which would enable them to prepare a more satisfactory scheme of land settlement than the 24-acre Healy holding by itself would permit and, to this end, they are at present investigating an offer of another holding, containing 35 acres, in the townland of Skehana.

Should the Land Commission be successful in purchasing this latter holding, resale proposals for the combined area of 59 acres will be formulated as quickly as possible.
