Vol. 239 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Grants.

31.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick

(Cavan) and Mr. Reynolds asked the Minister for Local Government if in order to facilitate local authorities in drawing up their road programmes he will now announce the road grant for each county for 1969-70.

The grants to be made available from the Road Fund for 1969-70 will be notified to all road authorities as soon as possible.

(Cavan): Could the Minister give any indication when that will be?

No. As soon as possible.

(Cavan): Does the Minister not agree that it is highly desirable that at this time of the year the road authorities should know where they stand in respect of grants?

It is desirable that it should be done as soon as possible, and it will.

(Cavan): What does the Minister mean by “as soon as possible”?

As soon as I am able.

(Cavan): Within the next two or three months?

Before that.

(Interruptions.)
