Vol. 239 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Road Widening Schemes.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if in view of the protests by the local residents Dublin Corporation will desist from putting a lay-by on the Navan Road which is at present being widened.

It is for Dublin Corporation to consider any protest addressed to them in a matter such as this.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the estimated total cost of widening the Navan Road, Dublin, (b) the cost of acquisition of additional land there and (c) when it is hoped to complete the scheme including the pathways.

The estimated cost of the scheme, exclusive of land acquisition, is £128,555. The total cost involved in land acquisition has not yet been determined. The completion of the scheme is a matter for Dublin Corporation; in this connection I may mention that the contract documents prepared by them provide for completion of the work within 12 months of the date on which the contract is signed.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will approve the scheme of Dublin Corporation for the widening of the public roadway opposite Brú Chaoimhín, Cork Street, Dublin, and the erection of a new boundary wall and railing at Brú Chaoimhín; if so, when; and whether he will allocate a grant from the Road Fund towards the cost.

I assume the Deputy is referring to a recent application made by Dublin Corporation to my Department for recoupment out of the Road Fund of the cost of providing a temporary car park at Brú Chaoimhín. The matter is at present being examined and a decision will be conveyed to the corporation in due course.
