Vol. 239 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Service Pay for Engineers' Clerks (Kerry).

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the granting of service pay to engineers' clerks employed by the Kerry County Council from 1st July, 1967, was recommended by the Labour Court; and why his Department did not sanction such a recommendation having regard to the fact that the recommendation was accepted by the unions and the managers' association.

No recommendation was made by the Labour Court concerning service pay for engineers' office assistants. Agreement was reached between the County and City Managers' Association and the unions representing the engineers' office assistants following a conciliation conference at the Labour Court on 18th July, 1968, that service pay and additional annual holidays were to be agreed upon within the general context of the local conditions obtaining within any specific area. As regards the position in Kerry County Council, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his previous question on 11th March, 1969.

Question No. 18 withdrawn.
