Vol. 239 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonmel Telephone Installations.

6.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the present delay in the installation of telephones in Clonmel, County Tipperary.

Clonmel exchange accommodation is overcrowded at present and it is not considered advisable to add to the traffic load by connecting new subscribers, except those in the priority category. Arrangements have been made to move the postal sorting office to other premises which will shortly be ready, thus setting free accommodation for extra switchboards. When these have been installed the waiting applicants will be given telephone service without further delay.
