Vol. 239 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clogherhead (Louth) Pier.

58.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a sudden deterioration in the condition of Clogherhead pier, County Louth, is causing grave concern; that the Louth County Engineer has informed the County Council that the weight of lorries on the pier constitutes a danger for which he will not be responsible; and that if fish must be unloaded in the dock it can only be done at high tide as the dock is tidal; and if the Office of Public Works will carry out repairs immediately.

Maintenance of this pier is the responsibility of the Louth County Council. At the request of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries the pier was inspected last month by an engineer of the Office of Public Works and a report furnished to the Department. At the request of the county engineer another inspection was made on Friday last and a further report will shortly be sent to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
