Vol. 239 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Harmonisation of School Hours.

42.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Education if he will secure greater harmonisation of school hours as between primary and secondary schools with a view to greater integration of school transport service.

It is my constant aim, in the interests of efficiency and economy, to integrate as far as possible the transport services to primary and post-primary schools. Much has already been done but the extent of integration is necessarily limited by the fact that the length of the school day for primary and post-primary pupils cannot, for obvious reasons, be the same.
