I am not aware of any proposals by an Irish shipping concern for the introduction of hovercraft.
The development of hovercraft is kept under review in my Department and in the State-owned shipping companies. The B and I company have set up a wholly owned subsidiary to investigate the feasibility of operating hovercraft, hydrofoils and other forms of transport with particular reference to the Irish Sea.
