Vol. 240 No. 1

Written Answer. - Rural Workers' Wages.

95.

asked the Taoiseach if he will furnish a table of rural workers wages (a) weekly and (b) hourly as at 21st April, 1969 in the form of a reply of 4th February, 1969.

The following statement gives for each county for 21st April, 1969 (a) the basic weekly time rates of wages paid to forestry workers and the hourly equivalent based on 43 working hours per week; (b) the minimum weekly rates payable to adult male agricultural workers under the Agricultural Wages (Minimum Rates) Order, 1969 and the hourly equivalent based on 50 working hours per week and (c) the weekly rates of wages paid by county councils to road labourers. Working hours for road labourers follow a seasonal pattern, which varies somewhat from county to county, and the particulars of hours worked at specific times of the year are not available to the Central Statistics Office. In the case of forestry workers an incentive bonus is payable in addition to the basic weekly time rate.
