asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction a group water scheme for Brade, Kincasslagh, County Donegal; and, if so, when.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Schemes.
This scheme has been approved and a certificate of approval allocating State grants has been issued.
Was there a discussion——
I am not the local authority. I can only advise the local authority.
The Minister is only the man who abolishes local authorities.
There again is a local authority with a Coalition majority. What can you expect in such a case?
asked the Minister for Local Government if he has sanctioned the loan to implement the Emlaghmore group water scheme, County Kerry for which application was sent to his Department by the Kerry County Council some weeks ago.
No application for a loan to finance this scheme has been received in my Department.
asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which the documents for a water supply for Newtown, Rathangan, County Kildare, were submitted to him; and when he proposes to approve of same.
Kildare County Council's proposals for this scheme were submitted to my Department on the 2nd January, 1968.
As the local authority have not accorded the scheme a high priority I cannot say when a decision on their proposals will issue.
Did the Minister say 2nd January, 1968?
Fifteen or 16 months.
The local authority did not accord it a high priority.
It cannot be accorded any priority until the Minister has dealt with it.
That is not so.
It is for the local authority to arrange the order of priority.
It is sitting there waiting for the Minister to approve it, and when it comes down to them they will deal with it.
What about the North County Dublin Regional Water Scheme?
That is dealt with. That is probably partly the reason why Deputy Dunne is running out of North County Dublin.
The Aswan Dam has been built in the meantime.
Deputy Dunne's only complaint was no longer available and he had to take himself to fresh fields and pastures new.
asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which the documents for a water extension for Coill Dubh, Naas, County Kildare, were submitted to him; and when he proposes to approve of same.
Proposals for a water supply extension for the area referred to were submitted to my Department on the 16th August, 1968, further data being submitted on the 6th March, 1969.
As the county council have not indicated the degree of priority which they wish to accord the scheme I cannot say when a decision on their proposals will issue.
asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received an application from the Galway County Council for a piped water supply to the villages of Cloonkeen and Cuilmore, Moylough, County Galway.
On the latest information available to me the water supply extension referred to by the Deputy, proposals for which are at present before my Department, are not regarded by the local authority as having a high priority on their water supply and sewerage programme.
asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, further to a reply of 28th November, 1968 and in view of the communication of 28th April, 1969, from Kerry County Council to his Department, the present position regarding the Templenoe to Kenmare water supply scheme, County Kerry; and when work is likely to commence.
I understand that proposals for a modified scheme are being prepared by the local authority for submission to my Department. I cannot, at present, indicate when work on the scheme is likely to commence.
asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the number of regional water scheme proposals from each local authority at present before his Department, (b) the date each proposal was received in his Department, (c) the estimated cost of each scheme, (d) when sanction will be given in each case and (e) the reason for the delay in sanctioning these schemes.
The compilation of this information would involve an altogether inordinate amount of time and research which, I feel, would not be warranted.
