asked the Minister for Defence the number of applications received from IRA pensioners for free travel, free electricity and free television and radio licences; and how many were granted in each case.

The number of applications for free travel received up to 25th April, 1969 was 8,927. Of these 7,999 have been successful and 741 unsuccessful. The balance are at various stages of investigation.

The number of applications received up to the same date for free electricity allowance and/or free television or radio licence was 6,645. Of these 4,186 have been successful and 2,235 unsuccessful, the balance being at various stages of investigation.
