Vol. 240 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ferbane (Offaly) Housing.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that there is a great shortage of houses in Ferbane, County Offaly; and that many people have applied to the Offaly County Council in the matter; if he will take steps to see that a housing scheme will be provided there as a matter of urgency; and if he will give approval to any proposal from the council with a view to solving the town's housing problem.

The provision of a housing scheme at Ferbane is a matter for consideration, in the first instance, by Offaly County Council, having regard to their assessment of the needs of the area. There are no proposals before my Department at the moment.
