Vol. 240 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Liffey Bridge.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government how the cost of the proposed new bridge across the Liffey will be met; and when construction will commence.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details of the proposed bridge across the Liffey.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 22 and 23 together.

I take it that these questions refer to a proposal for a new quay level bridge at Memorial Road just east of Butt Bridge. It is only very recently that the corporation have sought my approval in principle to this proposal. It raises a number of issues including cost and financing and these matters have to be fully examined before a decision can be made on the proposal.
