Vol. 240 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Helicopter Service.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether the proposed privately operated helicopter service at Dublin has been authorised; and if the heliport site has yet been approved.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to Irish Helicopters Ltd. That company is already authorised to operate helicopter services and will be free to use the heliport at the B and I car ferry terminal as soon as it is licensed. As indicated to the Deputy in my previous reply on this subject on 22nd April, 1969, I will be prepared to grant a licence under Air Navigation Regulations for this heliport when certain specified requirements are met.

How many helicopters will be used?

The licence has not yet been issued. As a matter of fact, it will be just one helicopter, as far as I know.

What age is it?

I have not that information.
