Vol. 240 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Pension Applicant.

24.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why a person (name supplied) in County Galway does not qualify for a full post office pension.

The person referred to did qualify for a full post office pension when he retired from the service in 1951 and received payment in full up to November, 1965, when it came to light that he had been overpaid. The overpayment of his pension resulted from his failure to disclose on the statutory declaration he was required to subscribe in connection with the encashment of his post office pension that he was in receipt of wages from public funds.

From December, 1965, his pension was reduced in order to recover the overpayment.
