Vol. 241 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Finglas (Dublin) Post Office.

143.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the present position regarding the provision of a new post office in Finglas, Dublin to cater adequately for the many needs of the citizens in that area; and whether telephone kiosks will be provided in the Oakwood and McKelvey Park districts in Finglas.

The area is adequately served by the present complement of four sub-post offices and the provision of an additional office is not under consideration. The kiosk programme for the current financial year does not include any additional kiosks for the Finglas area.

With all due respect to the inspectors who made the report, anybody who is conversant with the erstwhile central post office in Finglas would not accept at all that the area served by that post office is covered adequately at the moment. Perhaps the Minister would ask his inspectors to have a second look at the situation existing in what was the main post office in Finglas.

Has the Minister ever seen the post office in Finglas, particularly when there is a queue of women outside waiting to collect children's allowances there?

I take it this is Finglas village? I have been referring to four sub-post offices.

I am concerned about the post office in Finglas village.

In reply to both supplementaries, I have not seen the post office in Finglas village, but, bearing in mind what the Deputies have said, I shall arrange to have a further look at this.
